Process Notes

Laser cutting produces a slight heat-affected zone on mild steel. For tight tolerances or parts requiring post-weld work, waterjet is available. Bending is excellent on gauges up to 3/8".

Common Use Cases
Structural brackets, frames, and supports
Enclosures, panels, and chassis
Automotive fabrication and roll cages
Agricultural and industrial equipment parts
Art, sculpture, and signage
Weldments and assemblies

Process Notes

316 grade recommended for marine and chemical environments. Laser cutting works well but generates heat discoloration near edges — waterjet eliminates this. 316 is slightly harder to bend than 304.

Common Use Cases
Food processing equipment and prep surfaces
Marine hardware and outdoor fixtures
Medical and pharmaceutical equipment
Architectural cladding and trim
Chemical processing components
Commercial kitchen equipment

Process Notes

5052 is preferred for bending — it's more ductile and crack-resistant. 6061 machines and cuts exceptionally well. Note that 6061 can crack at tight bend radii; use 5052 for parts with multiple bends.

Common Use Cases
Aerospace and UAV structural components
Electronic enclosures and heat sinks
Automotive and motorsport brackets
Architectural panels and signage
Bicycle, marine, and outdoor equipment
Robotics and automation frames

Process Notes

CRS has no mill scale, making it ideal for parts that will be painted, powder coated, or plated. Tighter dimensional tolerances than hot-rolled. Not recommended for waterjet due to rust risk from water exposure.

Common Use Cases
Precision mechanical parts and fixtures
Painted or powder-coated panels
Automotive body components and trim
Electrical boxes and enclosures
Appliance parts and housings
Furniture frames and decorative metalwork

Process Notes

⚠️ Laser cutting galvanized steel produces zinc fumes — parts are cut with enhanced ventilation. Waterjet is the cleaner option. Cut edges will lose zinc coating and should be treated with cold galv spray for outdoor use.

Common Use Cases
HVAC ductwork and enclosures
Outdoor signage and structures
Agricultural equipment panels
Construction flashing and brackets
Utility trailers and outdoor fixtures
Roofing and cladding components
